Wiki:

"Linus and Lucy" was originally written for Vince Guaraldi's 1964 album A Boy Named Charlie Brown (aka Jazz Impressions of ABNCB). It made its first appearance in the Peanuts specials as part of the soundtrack for A Charlie Brown Christmas, which features an iconic scene in which a number of characters dance to the music. Despite originating as a character leitmotif (for the characters indicated in the title; Linus and Lucy Van Pelt) it has become the de facto theme of the Peanuts franchise as a whole, appearing in numerous subsequent specials. The song is originally in the key of A-flat major. The song was played to the crew of Space Shuttle Endeavour as wake-up music on Day 2 of the STS-123 mission on March 11, 2008. It has been used as background music for The Weather Channel's local forecasts since 1999, and in advertisements for insurance firm MetLife. This song is also often played on radio stations in the United States that opt for a Christmas music format during the holidays; although it is not "officially" a Christmas song and carries no such connotations, its appearance on the soundtrack for A Charlie Brown Christmas has solidified "Linus and Lucy" as a holiday favorite.
