Yaeji’s cover and re-work of Drake’s song “Passionfruit” transforms its understated house vibes from drowsy to dreamy. Kathy Yaeji Lee, known professionally as Yaeji, is a Korean-American singer, DJ, and music producer based in New York. Yaeji’s music is a mix of house music and hip hop with vocals in both English and Korean. During her college years, Yaeji began experimenting with DJing as a hobby and as a result, began DJing at house parties. Two years later, she began writing and producing her own music. After she graduated from college, Yaeji moved to New York and began working on new music. Yaeji did release music on SoundCloud during her college years; however, these songs were later deleted.
