He said, "It didn't come out until about '92, '93 or something like that, 'cause nobody wanted anything to do with it." An early version of this song's melody was used in the 1984 film "The Wild Life", score to which was written by Eddie Van Halen. Joe Cocker could have sung this song when Eddie Van Halen had planned an album with various guest singers before David Lee Roth was replaced be Sammy Hagar. Sammy Hagar considered these lyrics to be the best he ever wrote for a Van Halen song. He explained, "I was tired of writing cheap sex songs. Eddie and I wanted to get serious and talk about world issues." The similar concept of this track's music video was used previously in videos like Phil Collins' "Another Day in Paradise".
