Wiki:

'You Won't See Me' was another song written by Paul during the crisis in his relationship with Jane Asher. By now, he was suffering the indignity of unanswered phone calls and other rejections. The dip in his romantic fortunes raised his writing to new heights because he now found he was the one in the vulnerable position. Paul had never seen life from this perspective. Throughout Beatles for Sale and Help!, he'd been dreaming up situations for his love songs but now, perhaps for the first time, he was writing from the heart. It was written as a two-note progression and Paul had the Motown sound in mind, particularly the melodic bass playing of James Jamerson, the legendary studio musician. Ian MacDonald in 'Revolution In The Head' suggests that the specific model he might have had in mind might have been 'It's The Same Old Song' by The Four Tops. 'You Won't See Me' was recorded during the last session for 'Rubber Soul', by which time Jane was playing in 'Great Expectations' at the Theatre Royal, Bristol.

[Verse 1] When I call you up, your line's engaged I have heard enough, so act your age We have lost the time that was so hard to find And I will lose my mind [Chorus] If you won't see me (you won't see me) You won't see me (you won't see me) [Verse 2] I don't know why you should want to hide But I can't get through, my hands are tied I won't want to stay, I don't have much to say But I get turned away [Chorus] And you won't see me (you won't see me) You won't see me (you won't see me) [Bridge] Time after time You refuse to even listen I wouldn't mind If I knew what I was missing [Verse 3] Though the days are few, they're filled with tears And since I lost you, it feels like years Yes, it seems so long, girl, since you've been gone And I just can't go on [Chorus] If you won't see me (you won't see me) You won't see me (you won't see me) [Bridge] Time after time You refuse to even listen I wouldn't mind If I knew what I was missing [Verse 3] Though the days are few, they're filled with tears And since I lost you, it feels like years Yes, it seems so long, girl, since you've been gone And I just can't go on [Chorus] If you won't see me (you won't see me) You won't see me (you won't see me) [Outro] Ooooh oh la la-la Ooooh oh la la-la
