"Uh-Oh, Love Comes to Town" is the name of a song released by Talking Heads, from their 1977 debut album Talking Heads: 77. With a funky bassline and the use of steel drums, this song has more of a pop groove to it and noticeably differs from the rest of the songs on the album. This would be a preview to the exploration of funk and world music that Talking Heads would play in 1978's More Songs About Buildings and Food and throughout the remainder of their career. The song was featured on 2004's The Best of Talking Heads compilation album. Some pressings appear to have "I Wish You Wouldn't Say That" instead of "First Week/Last Week...Carefree" as the B-side.
Lyrics:
[Verse 1] Wait, wait for the moment to come Stand up, stand up and take my hand Believe, believe in mystery Love, love is simple as one-two-three [Pre-Chorus] I'm a know-it-all I'm the smartest man around That's right, you learn real fast You're the smartest girl in town [Chorus] So, here come a riddle Here come a clue If you were really smart You'd know what to do when I say [Verse 2] Jump back, sit back, get back, relax, it's okay I've called in sick, I won't go to work today I'd rather be with the one I love I neglect my duties, I'll be in trouble, but [Pre-Chorus] I've been to college And I've been to school I've met the people That you read about in books [Chorus] Here come a riddle Here come a clue If you were really smart You'd know what to do when I say Jet pilot gone out of control Ship captain on the ground Stockbroker make a bad investment When love has come to town [Verse 3] Where, where is my common sense? How did I get in a jam like this? Believe, I believe in mystery Love, love, love, love is simple as one-two-three [Chorus] Here come a riddle Here come a clue If you were really smart You'd know what to do when I say Why am I going out of my head Whenever you're around? The answer is obvious Love has come to town [Outro] Oh, oh, oh, oh
