THE SHADE

“THE SHADE” is the eighth song on Rex Orange County's fourth studio album "WHO CARES?" The track sees him reminisce about his regrets with a past lover. During an April 2021 Instagram live commemorating the four-year anniversary of his album "Apricot Princess", Rex performed the song for fans, announcing that the new album had been finished. Before the formal announcement of the album, fans gave this song potential titles such as “Anybody Else,” “Amsterdam” and “Stuck To Your Side” until the official title was revealed.
