Thom Yorke remarked on the tone of the song, noting its placement as the final track as it ends the album on a frustrated tragic note, "This is pretty bitter stuff. All this stuff about ‘cold wives and mistresses, cold wives and Sunday papers, city boys in first class’. Bloody hell. It’s pretty serious. Ha, ha. It’s just very angry."
