"I Wanna Sex You Up" was the debut single from American group Color Me Badd. The song includes samples from Doug E. Fresh's "La Di Da Di," Betty Wright's "Tonight is the Night," and Shuggie Otis's "Strawberry Letter 23." Released in March of 1991, it was first included in the soundtrack to New Jack City (Music from the Motion Picture). It was also part of the group's first studio album, C.M.B.. The single reached #1 on both the UK Official Charts and the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B Songs. It peaked at #2 on Billboard Hot 100, kept from the top position by Extreme's "More Than Words" and Paula Abdul's "Rush Rush." Billboard Magazine ranked "I Wanna Sex You Up" as the 2nd biggest single of 1991 in the United States. It was the 10th biggest seller in the UK for the same year.
